Apple/macOS silently removed from official Unix registry
Apple has quietly taken macOS off the Open Group’s official Unix trademark list, removing the operating system’s status as a certified Unix system. The change was observed without any public announcement from Apple. macOS had been listed as Unix‑certified since its early versions, and the delisting updates the registry but does not alter the OS’s technical capabilities.
