Malappuram DDC urges Centre to drop Palakkad rail division split
The Malappuram District Development Committee has appealed to the central government to scrap plans to carve a separate Palakkad railway division. The committee argues that the proposed split would disrupt rail infrastructure projects, lengthen travel times and raise administrative expenses, adversely affecting passenger services in Malappuram, north Malabar and Kasaragod. It urged the Ministry of Railways to retain the current division structure.
