In a rare bid to save Kashmiri language, clerics to deliver sermons in vernacular language on October 16
On October 16, religious leaders in Kashmir will conduct sermons in the Kashmiri language, an effort described as unusual and aimed at preserving the regional tongue. The plan was announced by the Mirwaiz during the urs commemorating Hazrat Sheikh Noor‑ud‑Din Noorani, a saint associated with Budgam. Officials hope the initiative will encourage wider use of the language.
