Farmers in Keralam’s Kollam call for hill-region hartal over exclusion of villages from ESA exemption list
Farmers in Kerala’s Kollam district will stage a one‑day hartal on Oct. 27, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to protest the state’s decision to leave eight villages out of the ESA exemption list and to propose excluding 33 additional villages from a controversial draft. The farmers allege the government has sidelined them and demand inclusion in the exemption scheme.
