Periyar Tiger Reserve shifting to CNG buses to curb pollution
Periyar Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu is introducing compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to lower emissions. The reserve’s shuttle service currently runs eight diesel-powered vehicles alongside three newly added CNG units. Officials say the goal is to phase out all diesel buses over time, aiming for a fully cleaner fleet to reduce air pollution within the protected area.
