72 lakh teachers trained to use technology to identify students with disabilities
In India, 72 lakh teachers have received training to use a digital screening tool that will help them spot observable behaviours indicating potential disabilities. The tool, introduced this month, allows teachers to flag students for further assessment. Special educators then classify these students into one of 21 disability categories, enabling early detection and targeted intervention to support inclusive education.
