Captive elephants to get regular health check-ups in Keralam
Kerala Elephant Federation has begun medical camps to examine captive elephants for diabetes, high cholesterol, and kidney or liver problems. The program follows a rise in elephant deaths in the state, prompting authorities to seek better health monitoring. The initiative aims to improve welfare and reduce mortality among the animals. The camps will also collect data to guide future conservation strategies.
