Fishers from six Andhra districts seek Forest Rights Act-style law to protect fishing grounds
Traditional fishers from six districts in Andhra Pradesh have called for a law modeled after the Forest Rights Act to safeguard their fishing grounds. During a consultation in Visakhapatnam, they also demanded real‑time sea‑warning alerts for boats and compensation for periods when fishing is prohibited. The proposal aims to strengthen community rights and secure livelihoods.
