Supreme Court seeks review of State DGP appointment rules against 2006 Prakash Singh judgment
India’s Supreme Court has ordered a review of the rules governing the appointment of State Directors General of Police to assess whether they comply with the 2006 Prakash Singh judgment. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, will examine the guidelines that require transparent selection processes and a minimum two‑year tenure for DGPs in the country.
