Shipping JPEG XL in Chrome
Google’s Chrome browser will start including native support for the JPEG XL image format. The update means the browser can decode JPEG XL files without external plugins, offering potentially higher compression efficiency and better visual quality compared to older formats. Developers can now serve JPEG XL images directly to Chrome users, aligning with broader industry efforts to adopt newer image standards.
