GPS study on elephant movements aims to mitigate conflicts in Assam
From April 2021 to June 2026, the Assam Forest Department partnered with WWF‑India to equip GPS collars on four female elephant herds and one lone male across Udalguri, Sonitpur and Biswanath districts. The data will map movement patterns in these high‑conflict zones, helping authorities design strategies to reduce human‑elephant clashes and protect both communities and wildlife.
