Minister urges use of small clay idols for Vinayaka Chaturthi amid water shortage in Kurnool
Kurnool’s water minister has asked residents to use small clay Ganesh idols for Vinayaka Chaturthi, citing severe water scarcity. The Tungabhadra River and other local water bodies are nearly dry, attributed to the El Niño-driven drought. While acknowledging devotees’ desire for larger idols, the official said the current conditions make such immersions impractical and urged the public to conserve remaining water resources.
