Utah to let AI examine patients and prescribe medication without human oversight
The state of Utah has approved a pilot program that allows artificial‑intelligence systems to conduct patient examinations and prescribe medications independently, without a clinician’s direct supervision. The initiative, aimed at increasing access to care in underserved areas, will use AI algorithms to analyze medical data and generate treatment plans, with oversight only for monitoring and quality control.
