Railways grant in-principle approval for new Kollam-bound train via Kottayam in Keralam
Indian Railways has given in‑principle approval for a new passenger service linking Kollam with Ernakulam, Kottayam and Chengannur. The proposed train will run via the Ernakulam‑Kottayam‑Chengannur corridor and is intended to alleviate the heavy evening crowd on the existing Venad Express. Details on schedule and rolling stock are yet to be finalised. The plan also seeks to boost regional connectivity.
