Valles Marineris flood may have raised ancient Martian sea level by 34 metres: study
A new study published in Icarus estimates that a massive flood from Valles Marineris, the Solar System’s largest canyon, released roughly 1,245 trillion cubic metres of water. Researchers say this event could have lifted the level of a hypothesized ancient Martian ocean by about 34 metres, overall significantly affecting the planet’s early climate and geology.
