First international cargo vessel leaves eastern Assam since 1947
Dibrugarh, a former major river port in Assam, has dispatched its first international cargo ship in over seven decades. The vessel, carrying goods to a foreign destination, marks a revival of the city’s maritime trade after a long period of inactivity. The move signals renewed interest in using the Brahmaputra corridor for commercial shipping in 2024.
