ED searches 16 places linked to smuggling of foreign-origin betel nut via the Indo-Myanmar border
India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) has searched 16 sites near the Indo‑Myanmar border after uncovering a smuggling network that trafficked foreign‑origin betel nut. Dried areca nuts were transported overland to Champhai in Mizoram, then moved across the Tiau River at Zokhawthar in small consignments, avoiding the Land Customs Station. The operation was described as well‑organised by the ED.
