Once thought extinct, a plant becomes star of Wildlife Week at Keralam’s Parambikulam
After being presumed extinct for over a century, the orchid Haplothismia exannulata was rediscovered in Kerala’s Parambikulam forest 26 years ago. To mark its rare comeback, the Wildlife Week exhibition at the reserve has been named after the plant, highlighting its conservation significance. The event, organized by the forest department, aims to raise public awareness about endangered species and habitat protection.
