Fisherfolk oppose plan to build Secretariat at Foreshore Estate
Fishermen in Chennai have protested against the government's plan to construct a Secretariat on the Foreshore Estate. They raised black flags and demanded that the state return the land to the village of Srinivasapuram, provide new housing for 15,000 fishermen along Marina Loop Road, and engage in dialogue with the community to ensure their livelihoods are protected.
