AI chatbots remove hijabs from images of Muslim women when prompted
Researchers at The Guardian examined several AI chatbots by asking them to edit pictures of Muslim women. The models consistently removed the women’s headscarves, effectively erasing the hijab. The test was prompted by a recent incident in which a French far‑right politician digitally stripped a hijab from a woman’s photograph, raising concerns about bias in generative AI tools.
