‘Halal-certified’ jaggery in Sabarimala prasadam: Kerala HC asks TDB to ensure ingredients conform to quality standards and religious customs
The Kerala High Court has instructed the Travancore Devaswom Board to verify that the jaggery used in Sabarimala Ayyappa temple prasadam complies with both quality regulations and the temple’s religious requirements. The directive follows a 2021 petition by a devotee who challenged the use of jaggery labeled as halal-certified. The court ordered the board to ensure appropriate sourcing.
