The Madras High Court has initiated a suo motu case to eliminate caste‑related names from streets, roads and localities in Tamil Nadu. Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan ordered a status report on names already changed and those still pending removal. The bench stressed compliance with discrimination laws and directed authorities to speed up the renaming.
